| 1. Toys in the Past (approx. 2 hours.) |
The workshop starts with a brief introduction to different lifestyles of the past to demonstrate the differences between commercial and homemade toys. Many different types of replica toys ('cat and batty', hoops, cup and ball, marbles etc.) are available to play with, as well as traditional games such as a giant snakes and ladders board. Maximum number per group approx. 45 excluding adults. |
| 2. Homes in the Past (approx. 2 hours.) |
Homes in the past gives children a rare opportunity to see and handle household artefacts of the past from traditional washing equipment to flat irons and old wireless sets. Artefacts are drawn from the Museum's own collections which are housed in a Georgian (1830s) stable block and carriage house, built by the Hanbury family of ironmasters. Maximum number per group approx. 40 excluding adults. |

| 1. Homes in the Past (approx. 2 hours.) |
Comprising: kitchen, home, housing and furniture.The workshop includes a detailed exposition of different life styles in the past using household items. Children are given the opportunity to handle and identify, in game form, a range of household items from the past. Maximum number per group is approx. 40 excluding adults. |

GENERAL INFORMATION
The workshops last 2 hours and should be booked in advance. The cost per child is £2.50, (except for the special Matisse workshop) accompanying adults are free. The minimum number per group is 20, with a minimum of two adults. The museum has toilet facilities, a gift shop and a café.
