Works by Ania Czepulkowska Abse 27 April - 27 October 2013 Works from the collection of Ania Abse, graduate of the Chelsea College of Art and the Royal College of Art. Ania has a design studio in West London but has family links to Torfaen. Textile designer with work in many international institutions and used by international textile companies and fahion houses including Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Jones of New York, Armani and GAP. View her unique style and vision from life drawings to textiles.

The missing link between dinosaurs and birds! 'Archaeopteryx' A late Jurassic exhibition from the Dept of Geology of the Amgueddfa Cymru / National Museum Wales 12 July - 6 October 2013 From the Welsh National Collections comes the history of the discovery of the famous winged dinosaur specimens known as 'Archaeopteryx'. Long known as the missing link between dinosaurs and birds, this exhibition includes replica casts of feathered dinosaurs from Germany & China which also explores the debate on evolution, the origin of birds & their relationship to dinosaurs & the development of flight FREE entry for all school age children during the School Summer Holidays (but must be accompanied by a fee paying adult)

Permanent Displays
The Story of Torfaen gallery – this tells the story of Torfaen from earliest times to the present day. The gallery is a colourful display of artefacts, pictures and paintings, together with a new audio/visual display and an accompanying book 'The Story of Torfaen' on sale in the shop.
Oriel Barker Gallery - The Glyn Edwards collection of musical Instruments from around the world.
A stunning display of unique and unusual hand-made instruments, collected by the late Glyn Edwards on his travels over many years.
Japanware Gallery - showing the locally important, eighteenth century industry of Japanware with pieces on loan from the National Welsh Collection. This highlights the close link between our small independent museum and Amgueddfa Cymru / National Museum Wales. Displays have been upgraded with grant assistance from the Welsh Government's 'Sharing Treasures' & The Federation of Museums & Galleries of Wales.
Until October 2013 in the Hanbury Room - 'The Poet & The Politician’ celebrating the lives of Myfanwy Haycock & Leo Abse, two of Torfaen's most famous citizens.
Pontypool Local History Society Programme
Pontypool Local History Society meet at the museum on the first Tuesday of the month between September and April at 2 pm in the museum schoolroom. Please ring for the schedule of speakers or other details - £2 charge on the afternoon for non-members.
