The
Collections
The
museum collects artefacts from the history, archaeology, geology, social
and industrial histories, art, craft and ecology of the Torfaen Valley
(which is the Eastern most valley of south Wales including the towns of
Blaenafon, Pontypool and Cwmbran).
The
collections include:

18th
- 20th century domestic wares such as washing tubs, dollies, mangles,
irons, sewing machines and accessories, toys
and games.

A
fine selection of decorative arts, including the famous Pontypool
& Usk Japanware, local commemorative wares and furniture including
several of the locally famous Baker chairs.

Vaughan Clocks
-
Local
industry items from mining, iron ore production, glass and steel making
to memorabilia from the B.N.S/I.C.I/Dupont SA site, Pontypool.

Fire,
medical, law and military items, educational, transport, trade,
building, office, music, religious and recreational items.

The
museum has a fine art collection with 18th & 19th century paintings
and prints including works by Benjamin and Thomas Barker and 2 portraits
by war artist Eric Kennington.
